Critique- Screening

Today our films were all screened to the class and we watch, critiqued and then gave advice on how to make them better. When it came to my sequence, all of the comments were very positive and most of the student said they was very impressed and enjoyed it. They enjoyed watching and said the sequence showed of the titles well and theywas used to break up the different shots.
Overall my sequence was a success through the classes views and comments and i was very pleased and it gave me the confidence to try and achieve more with the write up, it was a good day for me :)

DVD Cover

When i thought my film was all finished i decided to create a DVD cover to present to my teacher for the deadline which is fast approaching..... i think the Dvd cover was very nicely made once i got used to photoshop, but i think it turned out ok in the end.... :)

Poster

I also created a poster, i know that it is similar to my DVD cover but normally this is how a a film promotes its film by advertising using the same picture on the poster. From this i wanted the audience to be able to look at it and want to look at it again to give them indication that they may of missed something and thats what i want to get at into making my film be like....... Also its very plain to normal posters but i wanted it to be so that the writing don't draw the attention away.....

Music Chosen

This was a tough chose when it came to choosing the Music for my sequence, i wanted the music to reflect the mise en scene and as well as dominate for shots to draw the audience into the piece and create tension and suspense. After looking through various different websites looking for non- copy right music, i came across a nicly sounded bit of music, i put it into my sequence and it worked perfectly therefore i kept it to use. The music fitted my sequence and iwas so pleased it worked together.... soo here it is i Dont think the music is as scarey sounded without the mise en scene.....

Title Used

This is the title of the film, i used this font to a it is nice an edgy font and i liked it because i believe this reflects my film overall.

What i want to my opening to achieve?

For my opening i wanted to give the audience a sense and feel to how the film will be and want my sequnce to reflect it. I wanted the opening to make the audience raise questions about where the location is, what will happen after and how they will have to find out. I want to make the sequence so that the audience watching wants to know more and become intrigued, so that it would be a sequence the would be wanted to watch again and again looking at all the different kind of shots. This is what i want to achieve and for my film, i want it to be the film that is said to have all the shots perfectly placed and cleverly used to make the sequence really good. I liked the idea of a simple opening, and realised that the most simpilist ones are the best...

Font

After looking through various different fonts i finally decided to pick the font called ' i still know'. I chose the font because i wanted the font to represent a horror, as well as a nice, smart readable font. I Didn't want there to be unreadable and full of bloody fonts with blood, contrastingly i wanted to keep the red colour to represent danger but keep it nice because of reflecting the Christmas festive time. Here is just a taste of what they will look like......... :)

Editing in final cut pro

Create your own video slideshow at animoto.com.

I edited my sequence in final cut pro, i wanted to show what my timeline for my sequence was looking at. It shows that there are grey patches and this shows where i edited the titles to shake and also where the point of view of the killer is the shot.

3rd Shoot

For this third shoot i reshot some shots because i was not happy with some and also i wanted to try some new shots i had in my mind. The previous shoot gave me the idea of an ending, once showing my teachers the sequence first copy and attempt, recommendations were put forward for a different ending. i researched some more on horror and decided to reshoot a different ending so that i don't give to much away. i shot the ending and it was very simple and straight forward. The filming was done fairly quickly and gave me the shots, from then i began to edit more and more and i know knew the timescale so i worked on producing a good length for my finished product. It was a short shoot but it was useful for me.

1st draft of sequence

This is the first draft of my sequence, when showing my teacher she Critiqued it very throughly. The first thing was that it was to long then should be as it was five minutes, and because of this i needed to shorten it. Also when looking through it showed to be telling to much of a story, i believe it was and was showing the audience to much and dint hold much back. It also flowed to much and needed to be looked at alone when thinking about where to put titles and how it needs to broken up into the sequence, from showing this to my teacher i believe it gave me good advice to go on and fulfil the boundaries of the sequence and also make sure that it would be ok for the screening in a few weeks time. Overall from this critique i had a platform and basis of what i knew i had to change and put right. It helped me enormously....
